O.J. Mayo Packs Brain and Braun

January 11th, 2007 by

You know O.J. Mayo the phenom high flying basketball player. But do you know O.J. Mayo the student?

“I’m only an athlete part of the time, and I’m a student the other part of the time. I’m a competitor and I like to compete in both areas.” said Mayo, who won Sports Zone Student Athlete of the Week for Jan. 11.

Through his first 12 weeks at Huntington High, Mayo has maintained a 3.4 grade point average. Although many believe he will only stay one year in college and jump to the NBA, Mayo is keeping one eye open on his distant future.

“One day, when I have to put down a basketball, I’d like to go into business, I want to have a lot of my own businesses, go into real estate. It’s good to have a little head on your shoulders.”

  2. Oj Mayo is the greatest player alive and he is my favorite player. I know when he get to college he is going to break a lot records and will end up in the nba hall of fame later on when he get to the nba. People said he fell of the charts to derrick rose and michael beasley but I know he is still gonna be the 1st overall pick in the nba.
