Scott County, the No. 1 boys’ basketball team in Kentucky, knocked off Huntington, W. Va., No. 1 in the nation, 72-68, at the Memorial Coliseum. O.J. Mayo didn’t have a particularly good shooting night (12-for-30) but scored 14 in the fourth quarter to get the Highlanders close but it was not enough. Mayo finished with a game-high 26 points.
“They were just a better team than us,” said Huntington guard and future USC Trojan O.J. Mayo. “I told the guys you don’t come to Kentucky and play the No. 1 team in the state and not bring your ‘A’ game.
