O.J. Mayo wants to be a Laker

June 21st, 2007 · 1 Comment

According to ABC7 in LA, O.J. Mayo has wanted to play for the USC Trojans ever since he took trip to California in the tenth grade. He wears the number 32 because his favorite player growing up was Magic Johnson and hopes to follow in Johnson’s footsteps and play for the Lakers.

“I wanna be a Laker, that’s my ultimate dream, since I was younger”

Many say Mayo will be at USC only one year and then enter the NBA Draft but Mayo says he’s undecided:

“I’m not a fortune teller, so I can’t tell the future … hopefully, I can maybe stay four years and get a degree and learn how to be a little more independent”

With Kobe wanting out, if the Lakers were able to get O.J. Mayo the city of Los Angeles wouldn’t miss a beat (although he would rather play with Kobe)

Check out the two videos with an interview with Mayo.
