With the 1st Pick in the 2008 NBA Draft….

The select O.J. Mayo, out of the University of Southern California.

Okay, it’s way too early to be making predictions but it’s always fun to see where the “draft experts” see players. While Draft Express has O.J. Mayo as their #1 draft pick, sites like NBADraft.net have him going 3rd. Of course, Trojan fans are hoping that 2008 number changes to 2009 or beyond.

O.J. Mayo scores 39 in Real Run Summer League

O.J. Mayo, who will be playing with the USC Trojans this year, scored 39 points for the Stars in a Real Run Summer League game last Friday. Marcus Williams, who backed up Jason Kidd for the New Jersey Nets last year, scored 41 points to lead the Young Guns to the 138-128 victory over the Stars at Inglewood High.

Along with Mayo, players like Paul Pierce, Jrue Holiday, Renaldo Sydney, Demar DeRozan, Amir Johnson, Trevor Ariza, and Kevin Love are expected to play. The league runs every Friday and concludes on August 17. Admission is free.

USC Trojans Basketball Schedule

The 2007-08 USC Trojan’s basketball schedule was released today and clearly the impact of O.J. Mayo to the Trojan’s can be seen. The schedule includes a potential of 16 games against teams garnering preseason top 25 recognition, including non-conference home games with Big 12 powers Oklahoma and Kansas. Their schedule also includes two tournaments which including preseason No. 1 Memphis at Madison Square Garden in the Jimmy V Classic and the new made for TV Anaheim Classic tournament at the Convention Center from Nov. 22 - Nov. 25.
