The article on OJ Mayo in the November issue of Slam Magazine was great. I was so impressed that immeidiately I wanted to talk with the kid and congradulate on reaching above his circumstanes and touching his dream.
You never kow me but I founded a program that deals with young men, many like OJ. Tghe program is called “Big Dad” I role model a strng caring father-figuure to young males growing up without fathers. ONe of the thing that I used to get teh attention of the youth was “Basketball.” Though, I am 6’5″ tall, I never had the opportunity to play basketball. I grew up in Arkansas in very religous home, where basketball wasn’t allowed due to the church standards. So, I used my situations in my life that could have pulled me down and HELD ME HOSTAGE, I devloped this program and teh team was called, “Big Dad SONS”.
Any way, I wanted to say best of everything to OJ and say a little prayer for teh boys of whom I am trying to reach. Some I didn’t get to in time, but presently, I am looking at an opportunity to step up and make a name for the program. I say to OJ, be all taht you can be, I believe in yo son.
