Mayo More than a Baller

November 9th, 2007

With O.J. Mayo set to make his college debut this Saturday for the USC Trojans, the Press Enterprise has a great article on there being More to Mayo than Hype.

Mayo is a smart, academic, hard-working team guy and leader interested in more of the world than the 94-by-50-foot stage where he’s made himself famous. He’d rather outwork you than get by on his talent. And as much as he plans to become one of the 50 top players in NBA history, he’s also dedicated to reviving his West Virginia hometown as a real estate developer.

  1. OJ Mayo is a thug. Look into his off the court behavior when he attended North College Hill in Cincinnati. He’ not that intelligent if he takes part in jumping other students.

  2. I also find it hard to call someone smart when they are a 20-year-old freshmen. If memory serves me right most freshmen begin college at 18.

  3. OK why you gotta say all this stuff about OJ. Man did nothing to you, people like you make me sick how someone such as OJ have been blessed with a god given tallent to play ball, stop hating, just because you cant play ball doesnt give you any right to talk smack about him.

  4. From what I have seen on Youtube OJ has ridonk talent! I hope that he is able to parlay his talent into putting on a Jordanesque show for us all to enjoy for the next 15 years! Most of these kids end up with huge egos and no drive to actually be the next MJ and win Championships!
OJ, we are all watching and hoping to see you be the next MJ!

  5. You would never understand O.J. unless you was a young african american growing up in West Virgina. I am a living example and I have to speak up for O.J. and Randy.(Moss) Like the article said it is hard to be successful coming from this state. I am behind O.J. 100% cause I have been searching for an opportunity to succeed all of my life. Now that I run a successful home business I have dedicated myself to be the inspiration, education, and motivation 4 effective leadership to all who wants to succeed. From the experiences that I have been through in 32 years I understand what O.J. is trying to do. He is trying to save the kids growing up in the state from having NO OPPORTUNITIES TO SUCCEED. (JUST LIKE I AM) My hat is off to O.J. (PROVE THE HATERS WRONG)
